About the Calgary White Hat Awards
Together, Tourism Calgary and Industry partners present The Calgary White Hat Awards, a tribute to exceptional customer service.
Since 1961, the Awards have been presented to employees in the hospitality and tourism industry who exemplify outstanding customer service.
Award winners recieve the traditional white hat, the enduring symbol of Calgary's legendary western hospitality.
This prestigious awards event is a rare opportunity to recognize those who provide visitors and Calgarians alike with service that is 'above and beyond'.

Who can nominate?
-
Guests, Visitors and Calgarians can nominate.

Management and supervisors can nominate employees.

Employees can nominate co-workers.
What is the nomination process?
1) Nomination forms are recieved and reviewed in
confidence by the nomination committee.
2) All nominees are then scheduled for an interview.
3) At the interview, the candidate is asked a series of
questions and scored on a point system. The nominees
are interviewed by qualified, industry professionals.
4) An independent auditor verifies all tabulations.
5) Files are reviewed by the nominations committee. Three
finalists, and one winner for each category are selected.
Note: The selection process for all awards is at the
discretion of the White Hat Awards nominations committee.

Honorary Awards
WHITE HAT OF THE
YEAR AWARD
To Award a group,
individual or organization in the hospitality and tourism industry who has enhanced awareness of Calgary and it's reputation.
DOUG JOHNSON SERVICE AWARD
To honour an individuals' commitment and longevity in the hospitality and tourism industry which demonstated by 20 years of continuous service.
MAYOR'S WHITE HAT AWARD
To award an individual who is committed to the devepment of Calgary's hospitality and tourism industry which is demonstrated by a minimum 5 years related service.
MEDIA RECOGNITION AWARD
To honour an individual in the media who reflects the spirit of the award with a commitment to community service.
